...sell it.? I'm starting the process of addressing a few issues with my wife's Mercedes so we can sell it. One of the most obvious issues is the paint job on the hood. Because there's no clear coat, the hood has quite a few slightly larger than pin-sized nicks from driving to closely behind people. These blemishes really stand out when the sun shines on the black paint job.

I'm hesitant to try to fix it myself... I really don't want to make this a bigger problem. However, I don't want to take it somewhere and spend a couple hundred dollars, either.

Any advice? Thanks a lot.

easy fix cause it's black. go to walmart get a paint touch up pen. has a ballpoint tip for small chips and a nail polish brush for bigger ones. if you don't have a steady hand have your wife do it. i prefer using the brush fill the chips with paint several coats till they are filled level to the surface takes a few coats, let cure for a day then take a sheet of 1000-1200 grit sand paper, cut off a square 2x2 and fold twice so its 1x1 lightly smooth out any high spots or brush strokes. to restore shine use finish restore or fine cut rubbing compound also available at walmart or auto parts stores. it's real easy and will save you tons of money i've done it many times.
