I want to purchase a new 2009 Mercedes SLK 350 in April, but was wondering if it can handle the winter weather in Canada (Ottawa)? I know it is rear-wheel drive and that in itself can be a pain. I would get really good winter tires, but I don't want to get it if I would be spinning all over the road during the 6 months of winter we have. Any insight would be appreciated!

Well i used to have a SL 320 a few years ago and it was hopeless in the snow. Now I'm not quite sure about the new SLK but a set of winter tyres should definitely make a difference.

Hope that helps

Yes, as long as you put on a full set of winter rubber, it will get you around ( the ABS and ESP traction aids do help a lot as well ). If you try driving on the stock summer tires, you'll have a tough time getting around at all.
