View Full Version : "how does the CLK350 Cabriolet Mercedes compare to BMW 328i"? shelley r 10-24-2007, 01:21 PM Looking to lease a new convertible. I have the 328i BMW right now and like it but am considering others that are comparable. Abood 10-24-2007, 01:23 PM I know so many people who drove BMW and Mercedes, the results are as follow: C-Class is more reliable than 3 series. E-Class is much more fun to drive and more reliable than the 5-Series S-Class is WAAAAAAAY more luxurious and more stable and very friendly using and durable compared to the 7 Series. I also had a test Drive to the CLK 350 2006 and BMW 328i, the Feeling is way better in the Mercedes, but in the BMW it only has a very small difference in the reaction to the peddle push. Get the Mercedes and enjoy, it's the best Drive you could ever have. snootycars 10-24-2007, 01:24 PM No competition. Mercedes is the better car. Come to think of it, Mercedes is better than ANY BMW/Audi/Jaguar Crackin cars! Different class mate! M K 10-24-2007, 01:25 PM Lets make it simple: ANY Mercedes is better than ANY BMW. That's it. To the guy with the answer below mine: 4.9 seconds, 5.8 seconds, who cares? If you want to impress teenage girls, go for 4.9 seconds, but if you want a solid and comfortable car, go with a Mercedes. My wife drives a 1984 190E, which is not the best and hottest Mercedes ever made, but this 23(!) year old car has NEVER failed. There was never any problems with it. It still looks and runs fine. How many 23 year old BMW do you see on the road and how many of them were trouble free? sansurf16 10-24-2007, 01:26 PM Well the BMW is BRAND NEW!!! Just redesigned. It is sportier, and lookes less stodgy. It will cost less, so you could even think about the 335i. Even though it costs less, the valet will treat it just like a Mercedes. Same prestige. I see just as many old BMW's on the road as Mercedes's. New BMW's are much more reliable than new Mercedes. Buy the BMW. My family usually buys BMW's, but we look elsewhere sometimes, and we keep comming back to BMW. Another proven fact is BMW's reliability. They have occasional problems with the V8 and with some electrical systems. Have no fear. BMW is ranked much higher by Consumer Reports and JD Power in reliability. BMWs drive much better then Mercedes. They are light, yet hug the road. They are much sportier. The 3 series BMW is often recommended by Comsumer Reports. Anyone who says a Mercedes is more reliable doesn't own either or is really, really lucky. My aunt's father is the manager at a Mercedes dealership, and the cars are always in for service and major problems. Once your Mercedes warranty is up, the car will literally shutdown completely. brad 10-24-2007, 01:30 PM In simple terms the Bimmer will be sportier and quicker but the Benz will be more luxurious. You might consider a test drive in the CLK350 to get a feel for it, and also looking at the Audi A4. convertible and the And to the guy above me who states ANY Benz is always better than ANY BMW, I challenge that. You're obviously not knoledgable about cars since you don't back up your claim with facts, but look at the BMW 3-series vs. Mercedes C-class: You can get a 335i with twin turbos, a 0-60 of 4.9 seconds, nice styling and excellent handling for the price of a C350 with an average engine, squishy handling, ugly styling and a 0-60 of 5.8 seconds. I agree with you that Mercedes used to be very reliable cars. But now Mercedes makes very unreliable cars. The same is true for BMW, and come to think of it, no German cars are very reliable anymore. But my only point is that you can almost never say that ANY of something is better than ANY of something else, because that is almost never true. "Better" is a relative term. In terms of value per $, power, handling, and (In my opinion) styling, BMW trumps Mercedes with just about every model. I know I'd certainly take a BMW 325i over a Mercedes C230 any day of the week, and I know a lot of people who would agree with that. Opinion is opinion, not fact. |
