I went onto the mercedes benz official webiste and compared the ml350 and the ml350 4matic. I used the car comparison tool, and to my knowledge, they are exactly the same, but the 4matic is a couple hundred dollars more. What is the difference?
4matic means ALL-WHEEL-DRIVE, it is better for off-road.

4matic means All Wheel Drive in Mercedes language. The difference is the ml350 is rwd and 4matic is AWD.

The ML350 4matic is a 4 wheel drive vehicle. I believe it is even an all wheel drive system that operates all the time. Hence the "matic" in 4matic. That is the only significant difference. Obviously the 4matic will weigh more and get less mpg.

4matic means it's 4-wheel drive.
Power goes to all 4 wheels, as oppose to the ML350 just uses the rear wheels.
4 Matic sucks more gas, but gives you 4 wheel drive if you drive off road, or drive in bad weather like muddy swamps and ice and snow all the time.
