This Mercedes- Benz is in fairly good condition and the owner wants 10.000 for it. The car shows only 68,000 miles on it. I once bought a 1977 Vet and it was a disaster. Could the Benz be another big problem. I this car noted for any problems?

My brother currently has a 1987 Mercedes 260E that's had less problems than many brand new cars but still has had problems none the less. The MB-Tex upholstery looks like brand new still as well. This was a great time period for Mercedes, when they over-engineered their cars and they just lasted provided they received proper maintenance.
Find a qualified Mercedes mechanic (separate from the seller of course!) that can look over the car. If they've been working on these cars for any length of time they should be able to go right for the trouble areas and tell you in how good of shape the vehicle is.
Also 10,000 seems high . . . Look up the Blue Book & edmunds.com value. Also ask the mechanic, if it was his money, what he'd spend on the vehicle. Never hurts to get another opinion!
