My situation is this. I really want an S Class Mercedes.
As I drive around 50k miles a year, and tend to trash cars, i'm reluctant to spend £20k on a 2003 s320 diesel with 80k miles; and am seeking feedback on spending around £10k on the same car with 160k miles.
My thought process is that I won't worry about the depreciation, i'll be prepared to spend a bit on maintenance, and will go to Merceds specialist from day dot.
Even if I spent £5k on work aside from regular servicing, it would still be a lot less outlay than a lower mileage model; and there's always an element of risk with a used car - even one with lower mileage may go wrong.
My worry is that this is totally unrealistic, and that a high mileage S Class will go wrong all the time, and be really expensive, unreliable and a massive headache.
Does anyone have any views?
Thanks
Excellent and interesting answers so far, but still curious to hear from more people with experience of super high mileage mercedes, good or bad, hence extended.
