Hi

I have an 51 A140 when I turn the ignition on a repetative groaning noise comes from inside the dash, it does it about a dozen times in a row then stops, it does it again but quieter if I press the air recirculation button on the heater controls, please help its driving me nuts, I suspect the kids have pushed something through a vent, if so how can I get it out? is the heater ducting accessable if I remove the glove box?

Sorry for all the questions

Thanks in advance for any help

Hi

Sorry that no one could help, I decided to have a go myself.

The problem was found to be the small stepper motor that controls the linkage for the air recirculating system for the heater. It looks like it should only turn once in each direction but this one kept spinning on and the shaft was spinning in the sprocket causing the noise.

The motor can just about be reached by removing the passenger side (UK) glovebox.

To remove the motor looks like you have to strip out the center console and maybee the entire lower dash board.

I opted to just unplug the thing and carry on without being able to chose recycled or incoming air.

Atleast the noise has stopped
