How do I change the air filters in a 2007 Mercedes CLS 550?
I can get the front plastic cover on the top of the engine off with no problem. I unsnap the metal clip on the back of the rear plastic cover but I am stuck from that point because it is on solid and I am afraid to pull to hard on it for fear of breaking it. Something has to be holding it on somewhere but I don't see anything obvious. Thanks for the help!
It may feel solid, but it is just friction fit to rubber isolating mounts on the cylinder heads. As long as you have already detached the three air tubes and freed the metal clip on the back, you should be ready to lift the entire air filter housing up and out of of the engine compartment. Then you need to disassemble the housing (a few Torx screws) to actually get at the filter.
